Slurry pump
The
slurry pump is a centrifugal pump used to convey solid-liquid mixtures. It is
suitable for conveying the solid-liquid mixtures with strong corrosivity and
containing hard solid particles, such as ore pulp, lime ash, cement paste and
gravel.
Classification of the slurry pumps:
1. By the arrangement form: the horizontal slurry pump, the vertical slurry pump and the submersible slurry pump.
2. By applications: the mortar pump, the mud pump, the gravel pump, the dredge pump and the foam pump.
Working principle
Under the effect of the centrifugal
force, liquid is thrown from the center of the impeller to the edge and obtains
energy, so that it can leave the edge of the impeller at high speed and enter
the volute pump casing. In the volute pump casing, the speed of liquid is
reduced due to gradual expansion of the runner, and a part of kinetic energy of
the liquid is transformed to static energy. Finally, the liquid flows into the
discharge pipe at high pressure and is conveyed to the place where it is
needed. When flowing from the center of the impeller to the edge, the liquid
forms certain vacuum at the center of the impeller. At this time, as the
pressure above the liquid level of the storage tank is bigger than that at the
pump inlet, the liquid is continuously pressed into the impeller.
