Vertical Stirred Mill

The vertical stirred mill, also known as tower mill, is a vertical installed fine grinding equipment with a stirring device and it is a kind of fine grinding and ultra-fine grinding equipment widely used in industries.

Applications: The vertical stirred mill is mainly used for ultra-fine ore grinding operations, and its applications are mainly in mining, construction, water conservation and other industries.

Advantages: the vertical stirred mill works as a kind of grinding equipment in improving the quality of metal ore, non-metallic mineral fine grinding. It has simpler techniques and easier installation and can meet the requirements to various fineness of mine grinding with higher efficiency and energy saving features.

Equipment mechanism and working principle

The structure of the vertical stirred mill consists of a cylinder body, a spiral mixer, a transmission device and a frame. The cylinder is filled with certain ground media (steel balls, porcelain balls and gravel). The spiral mixer will rotate slowly  through the reducer-driving, the grinding media and materials in the cylinder do the overall multidimensional circular motion and autobiographical motion, the materials are effectively ground under the grinding medium weight pressure and screw rotation pressure generated by friction, as well a small amount of impact crushing and shearing.

Features of the Vertical mill

As the vertical stirred mill has a unique structure and working parameters, it has the following salient features:

1) peel off: the powder is made by the role of peel-based stripping, with a small amount of impact and shear effect. This can maintain the original lattice shape of the material, and make full use of energy and realize effective material grinding. To fine grinding and ultra-fine grinding, friction grinding is the most effective method.

2) Stratified grinding: In the grinding area, the medium surface pressure is composed of the medium weight pressure and the squeezing force generated by centrifugal force, because the speed is low, the medium surface pressure is almost the same as media weight pressure. The surface pressure increases gradually from bottom to top of the mill cylinder, the media filling bottom has the most intense grinding. The coarse particles are effectively ground due to their settling in the lower part of the mill cylinder.

3) Internal grading: When conducting wet grinding, there is the mixing grading area above the media filling. The materials are graded according to natural settlement and centrifugal sedimentation, reducing over-grinding.

4) The unique law of motion of medium: Equilibrium movement of the medium, multidimensional movement of medium and auto-rotation movement of medium makes the material evenly dispersed by the energy transferred by the stirrer.
